“Sexual assault is a subject that most people are uncomfortable talking about, yet it is a problem we must  do more than just talk about. There are millions of sexual assault survivors in the U.S. and hundreds more victimized every day. It is estimated that 1 out of every 5 women will be raped in their lifetime, most before they are 18. Sexual assault is a problem that puts every woman, teenage girl and child at risk. It is a problem that must be stopped.

“So, how do we stop it? Well, it is not a problem that can be stopped with more laws. It is not a problem that can be stopped with more funding for law enforcement and our judicial system. It is a problem that can only be stopped, or at least reduced, by changing the culture of how men respect and value women and children. Only when we can motivate more men to view women and children as individuals to respect and protect rather than individuals to prey upon and exploit will we see a reduction in the number of sexual assaults.
